On hearing of the death of Sinie Strikwerda, woman extra-ordinaire, she was chairperson of the Committee: “Say No To Atomic Missiles. This committee organised the largest anti-arms demonstration in The Netherlands ever:

Because of your outrage, I came to
The Hague to protest. My youngest child nearly
two years old.

Because of your outrage, I stood there
with my friend, also a young mother,
her mother and a million others.

Because of your outrage, I became
aware of politics and arms trade,
since 1983 not much has changed.

Because of your outrage, I am a worried
grandmother, worried about twenty-two
atomic missiles still in Dutch soil.

Can your outrage and sense for humanity
be replicated, build upon, brought further?
I wish I had your courage.
